Back in the fall of 2011, the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team shocked the Texas Rangers by beating them in 7 games to win the World Series. The joy and celebration in the city was unbelievable. As a Cardinals fan and a St. Louis resident at the time, it was an incredible thing to witness. In my office hangs the front page of the St. Louis Post Dispatch the day after the Cardinals won it all. The headline says "One for the Ages."

That phrase, "one for the ages," can also be applied to what is happening here at Deaf Missions. In the next 2 years, the entire Bible will be translated into American Sign Language (ASL). This is a feat that has never been done before. The ASL version will be the first-ever complete Bible translated into any sign language in the world -- the very first one! That is reason to celebrate.

I can imagine that our celebration in 2020m will be much like the one I experienced back in St. Louis in 2011, only this time, we will be celebrating something that will make an eternal impact. Joy, elation, relief...finally a Bible in ASL, a Bible for Deaf people. History will have been made.

And this will only be the beginning.

Thank you for being part of this history-making event. Your gifts help us to further our translation efforts and allows us to continue to reach Deaf people with the Word of God all over the world. We can wait to celebrate with you in 2020 as we make this "one of the ages."
