Things at Pibel Bible Camp are picking up...literally! We have had 2 work days, and so much work has been done. If we had to, we could start camp today. Of course, there are still a lot of things that need to be done.

The youth group from Ord Christian Church came out after church on a Sunday and picked up 3 trailer loads of sticks that had fallen from the trees in the spring ice storm. There is enough firewood there for the year, I'm sure. It still needs to be cut into usable sizes -- just saying...if you are a lumberjack.

One of the big things done is the new locks on all the doors of the property. Every building has an electronic lock that can be opened with a personal code that can be changed week-to-week as necessary. I used to take 20 to 30 keys to open the doors and locks in camp. Now it only takes 3!

We got a new sign put up at the entrance of the camp. The sign had been made and donated by a couple ladies from Third City Christian Church in Grand Island. It looks amazing!

There are some projects left to do that you may be able to help with:

  • The decks on the Hilltop Building need to be painted.
  • The poles and cables along our entry need to be pulled up.
  • The paintball field needds to have a clearing party to get limbs piled up.

One large project this year is to convert the carport into a pole-barn garage. We need money to pour a concrete floor, put in trusses for a sloped roof, put up vinyl siding, sheet the inside, and install a garage door and entry door. This needs to be done before fall. The existing tool shed -- the old boy's dorm -- is falling in on itself and is beyond reasonable repair. It has served us well for a long time. I slept in it, back in the day when it was on top of the hill to the south...so it's really getting old!
